2010 Water Over the Dam Days

Family & Friends Show We Care Walk

Honoring & Remembering Those In the Fight Against Cancer

The Family & Friends Show We Care Walk is a new addition to Nashua's Water Over the Dam Days events. We feel that it offers everyone in our community and surrounding communities the opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. The Walk is a 30 minute walk (or shorter if you wish) where we are asking individuals and teams of people to walk in honor or remembrance of an individual or more than one individual that has left an impression on their life.

Along with the Walk, a luminary will also be held. As the sun sets, luminaries will be lit each bearing the name of someone who has battled cancer. You may celebrate cancer survivors, or you may honor and remember those that have left us too soon. It's a great way to show that you are continuing to fight this disease in their honor. Luminaries may be purchased in advance by completing the form on our website. The cost for each luminary is $10. You may also purchase a luminary the night of the walk.

Participation in the Walk may be individually, or we also invite you to bring your teams. Show up wearing team colors, shirts, costumes, etc representing your team.

During the celebration, there will also be a moment to honor the survivors. We hope that you will join us for this emotional event.

The Walk will be held on June 25, 2010 at Cedar View Park in Nashua, IA starting at 6:45 pm. Please allow for time to register before the event. You may also register in advance by completing the form found on our website.

Once the Walk is over, please plan to stay around and join in on some of the other Water Over the Dam Days events, including the performance from the band Endless Summer, who will be playing from 7:30 – 11:30 for your listening and dancing enjoyment.

We are asking for donations from each participant. There is no set fee for joining the walk. Please keep in mind, however, that we are not only honoring our loved ones by taking part in the event, but are also determined to raise money to help in the cure for cancer. We encourage each participant to not only donate for themselves, but to also ask for sponsorship from friends, neighbors, family members or businesses. If you're unable to participate but would still like to make a donation, please send a check to Lincoln Savings Bank in Nashua, made payable to WODD Walk for a Cure.

To register in advance for the event and/or to purchase your luminary, please refer to nashua's website www.nashua-iowa.com .
